You can also use the\n[Google Cloud Pricing Calculator](/products/calculator) to estimate the cost of\nusing Secret Manager.\n\n\nIf you pay in a currency other than USD, the prices listed in your currency on\n[Cloud Platform SKUs](https://cloud.google.com/skus/)\napply.\n\nPricing overview\n----------------\n\nSecret Manager pricing is based on access secret version operations and\nactive secret versions.\n\nAs part of the [Google Cloud Free Tier](/free), Secret Manager provides\nresources that are free to use up to specific limits. These usage limits are\navailable both during and after the free trial period. If you are no longer in\nthe free trial period, usage beyond these Always Free limits is charged\naccording to the pricing table above.\n\n^1^Monthly free usage limits are aggregated across [projects](/resource-manager/docs/creating-managing-projects) by\n[billing account](/billing/docs/how-to/manage-billing-account) and reset every month; you are billed only for usage past\nthe monthly free usage limits.\n\n**Notes**\n\n1. A secret version is \"active\" when it's in any of these states:\n\n - Enabled\n - Disabled\n2. Secret Manager bills monthly for the number of active secret\n versions per location. This is based on actual consumption. If you had a\n secret version that was active for only 2 days, you would be billed\n proportional to that usage, and not for the whole month.\n\n An *automatic* replication policy is billed as a single location.\n3. Secret Manager bills access secret version operations per 10,000\n operations. This is based on actual consumption. If your project performed\n 25,000 operations, you would be billed for 2.5 times 10,000 operations.\n\n4. Secret Manager bills for every `SECRET_ROTATE` message sent to a Pub/Sub topic. You will be billed once for every rotation occurrence. Verify that your Pub/Sub topics are [configured correctly](/secret-manager/docs/event-notifications).\n\n5. Secret Manager does not bill for management operations including\n creating secrets, destroying secrets, or changing the state of secret\n versions.\n\nExample pricing calculation\n---------------------------\n\nIn this example, we show a hypothetical scenario to better illustrate\nSecret Manager billing.\n\nSuppose you have an account with the following secret usage in a given month:\n\n- 10 secrets with a user-managed replication policy into 3 locations, each\n having 5 active secret versions, for a total of 150 active secret versions.\n\n- 10 secrets with an automatic replication policy each having 10 active secret\n versions, for a total of 100 secret versions.\n\n- 10 secrets with an automatic replication policy each having zero active\n secret versions, sending 5 rotation notifications each.\n\n- 50,000 requests to access secrets.\n\nYour bill for the month would be calculated as follows:\n\n- 150 active secret versions, 6 secret versions are free.\n\n - Billing total: 144 active secret versions at $0.06: **$8.64**.\n- 100 active secret versions at $0.06: **$6.00**.\n\n- 10 secrets with 5 rotation notifications, 3 rotation notifications are free.\n\n - Billing total: 10 secrets with 2 rotation notifications each at $0.05 per notification: **$1.00**.\n- 50,000 requests to access secrets, 10,000 access requests are free.\n\n - Billing total: 40,000 access requests at $0.03 per 10,000 operations: **$0.12**.\n\n**Total for this pricing example: $15.76**\n\nWhat's next\n-----------\n\n- Read the [Secret Manager documentation](/secret-manager/docs).\n- Get started with [Secret Manager](/secret-manager/docs/quickstart).\n- Try the [Pricing calculator](/products/calculator).\n- Learn about [Secret Manager solutions and use cases](/architecture?text=Secret Manager).\n\n*** ** * ** ***\n\nParameter Manager pricing\n=========================\n\nThis section explains Parameter Manager pricing details. You can also use the\n[Google Cloud Pricing Calculator](/products/calculator)\nto estimate the cost of using Parameter Manager.\n\n\nIf you pay in a currency other than USD, the prices listed in your currency on\n[Cloud Platform SKUs](https://cloud.google.com/skus/)\napply.\n\nPricing overview\n----------------\n\nParameter Manager pricing is based on access calls on parameter versions and active\nparameter versions.\n\nAs part of the [Google Cloud Free Tier](https://cloud.google.com/free), Parameter Manager provides resources that are free to use up to specific limits. These usage\nlimits are available both during and after the free trial period. If you are no\nlonger in the free trial period, usage beyond these Always Free limits is charged\naccording to the pricing table above.\n\n^1^Monthly free usage limits are aggregated across [projects](/resource-manager/docs/creating-managing-projects) by [billing account](/billing/docs/how-to/manage-billing-account) and reset every month; you are billed only for usage past the monthly free\nusage limits.\n\n**Notes**\n\n1. All get calls for a parameter version that return a payload and all render calls\n for a parameter version are considered an access operation.\n\n2. Parameter Manager bills monthly for the number of parameter versions. This is\n based on actual consumption. If you had a parameter version that was active for\n only 2 days, you would be billed proportional to that usage, and not for the\n whole month.\n\n3. Parameter Manager bills access operations (get and render) per 10,000 operations.\n This is based on actual consumption. If your project performed 25,000 operations,\n you would be billed for 2.5 times 10,000 operations.\n\n4. Parameter Manager doesn't bill for management operations including creating\n parameters, updating or deleting parameters and parameter versions, and getting parameters.\n\nExample pricing calculation\n---------------------------\n\nIn this example, we show a hypothetical scenario to better illustrate Parameter Manager billing.\n\nSuppose you have an account with the following usage in a given month:\n\n- 10 parameters with 10 parameter versions, for a total of 100 parameter versions.\n- 50,000 requests to access parameter versions.\n\nYour bill for the month would be calculated as follows:\n\n- 100 parameter versions, 6 parameter versions are free.\n - Billing total: 94 parameter versions at $0.10: **$9.40**.\n- 50,000 requests to access parameter versions, 10,000 access operations are free.\n - Billing total: 40,000 access requests at $0.06 per 10,000 operations: **$0.24**.\n\n**Total for this pricing example: $9.64**\n\nWhat's next\n-----------\n\n- Get started with [Parameter Manager](/secret-manager/parameter-manager/docs/overview).\n- Try the [Pricing calculator](/products/calculator).\n\n#### Request a custom quote\n\nWith Google Cloud's pay-as-you-go pricing, you only pay for the services you use.
