Google Cloud VMware Engine

Rapidly lift and transform your VMware-based applications to Google Cloud without changes to your apps, tools, or processes. Includes all the hardware and VMware licenses to run in a dedicated VMware SDDC in Google Cloud.

Fully integrated VMware experience

Unlike other solutions, we simplify the use of VMware services and tools with unified identities, management, support, and monitoring while providing all the licenses, cloud services, and billing you need.

Fast provisioning and scale

Take advantage of the elasticity and scale of the cloud—through fast provisioning, you can spin up a new private cloud in about 30 minutes with dynamic resource management and auto scaling.

Use familiar third-party apps in the cloud

Continue to use your core enterprise apps in the cloud, without changes.  Google Cloud VMware Engine integrates with leading database, storage, disaster recovery, and backup ISV solutions.

Key features

Key features

Fast networking and high availability

VMware Engine is built on Google Cloud’s highly performant, scalable infrastructure with fully redundant and dedicated 100 Gbps networking, providing 99.99% availability to meet the needs of your most demanding enterprise workloads.

Scale datastore capacity independently from compute capacity

Filestore is VMware certified as an NFS datastore with VMware Engine. You can size vCPUs and storage capacity independently to meet compute and storage requirements for your storage intensive VMs. Leverage vSAN for low latency VM requirements and scale Filestore from TBs to PBs for the capacity hungry VMs.

Integrated Google Cloud experience

Benefit from full access to innovative Google Cloud services.  Native VPC networking gives you private layer-3 access between VMware environments and Google Cloud services, allowing you to use standard access mechanisms such as Cloud VPN or Interconnect. Billing, identity, and access control integrate to unify the experience with other Google Cloud services.

Robust VMware ecosystem solutions

Google Cloud Backup and Disaster Recovery is a managed backup and disaster recovery (DR) service for centralized, application-consistent data protection. Alternatively, you can leverage IT management tools and third-party services consistent with your on-premises environment. We’re partnering closely with leading storage, backup, and disaster recovery providers such as NetApp, Veeam, Zerto, Cohesity, and Dell Technologies to ease the migration journey; and enable business continuity. Read the VMware Engine ecosystem brief.

Familiar VMware tools and Google Cloud's operations suite

It's easy to move with the same VMware tools, processes, and policies you use to manage your on-premises VMware workloads. Use Google Cloud's operations suite to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve application performance on your Google Cloud environment.

Google Cloud VMware Engine reference architecture

Below is a representative reference architecture on how you can migrate or extend your VMware environment to Google Cloud while also benefiting from Google Cloud services.

Diagram with rectangle on left labeled On-premises VMware containing VMware vCenter, VM, ESXi Hosts, storage, and network connected with double arrow to a larger Google Cloud rectangle. The double arrow is labeled Cloud Interconnect/VPN. In the 2nd rectangle is a box labeled Google Cloud Console, which contains two fields: VMware Engine UI and Billing, IAM, etc. Below this is a rectangle with Google Cloud Services, which lists Storage, Operations, BigQuery, etc. To the right of those rectangles is a larger one labeled Dedicated VMware Stack, which encompasses VMware vCenter, VM, ESXi Hosts, storage, and network. Below that rectangle is a box with Bare Metal on which the service runs. To the right of the large rectangle is a box labeled Third-Party Services, Zerto, Veeam, etc., which you can easily integrate into your VMware-based apps on Google Cloud. In the background, underlying all the items in the Google Cloud rectangle is Google Cloud VMware Engine.
