Generative AI (also known as GenAI or gen AI) is a field of
artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on creating new content, such as
images, text, audio, and code. Unlike other AI systems designed to recognize
patterns and make predictions, generative AI models learn from input training
data and generate new data with similar characteristics.
Generative AI models are large enough to introduce the ability to understand and
generate natural language. Depending on the data the models are trained on,
these models can understand and generate content from multiple modalities,
including text and images. Models that work with multiple modalities of data are
called multimodal models.
