StratoZone allows you to import performance and usage data from your infrastructure hosted on other cloud providers. In addition to the VM inventory, your cloud infrastructure is also scanned to identify the Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure services that you are using. Based on the identified services, StratoZone recommends relevant Google Cloud services you can migrate to.
This page explains how you can install and run collection scripts on other cloud providers to collect data from your infrastructure, and how to import that data into StratoZone.
Running collection scripts in your cloud infrastructure
To collect data from your cloud infrastructure, download and run the collection scripts that are hosted on GitHub. The scripts automatically collect data from the assets that you can access based on the permissions that you have for the specific cloud project.
To download the scripts, select one of the following links, depending on your cloud provider.
After you download the script, follow the instructions provided in the README file to install and run it. The script creates a ZIP file with the collection results: save the ZIP file in your local folder.
Finally, upload the ZIP file to the StratoZone portal to populate your assessment.
Uploading collected data into StratoZone
To import the ZIP file generated by the scripts into the StratoZone portal, follow these steps:
Log in to the StratoZone portal.
From the Assessments tab, select Create new assessment group.
Select Manual asset entry as your assessment group type, fill in the information about group name and sponsor details, then click Save.
In the Overview tab of the Assessment page, enter a name for your assessment, select one of the options under AWS/Azure scripted discovery, then click Save & Next to continue.
In the Upload tab, click Upload and upload the ZIP file created by the collection script for the discovery type that you chose in the previous step. The status changes to Uploaded and StratoZone starts processing the file.
When StratoZone finishes processing the file, you will receive a notification from the portal. Refresh the page to enable the Save & Next button. Click Save & Next to continue.
If the collection scripts identify any services from other cloud providers, the Review cloud services tab appears to let you review the service types and number of service instances found. To continue to the next tab, click Next.
In the Validate and create inventory tab, review the results for the upload, then click Add inventory to create the new assessment.
If any of the assets show an error in the Validate and create inventory tab, you will not be able to create the assessment.
To troubleshoot the issue, contact StratoZone support and attach the ZIP file you tried to upload.
Reviewing collection results
To view the list of assets collected by the scripts, follow these steps:
Log in to the StratoZone portal.
From the Results tab, under Asset-level data, click Inventory.
Under Filters, expand Assessment to select the assessment you created for the scripts collection.
To view the list of services identified by the scripts, follow these steps:
Log in to the StratoZone portal.
From the Results tab, under Summary data, click Cloud services. The Cloud services page shows the Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure services identified, as well as the total number of instances of each service. It also shows similar services offered by Google Cloud, when available.
