Generate grounded answers

This page introduces the grounded generation API. Use it to generate well-grounded answers to a query. The grounding sources can be your Vertex AI Search data stores or custom data that you provide.

The grounded generation API takes a query and a configuration for what data sources to use. Data sources can be text chunks provided in the request inline or data stores in Vertex AI Search.

The API returns a grounded answer with citations.

Before you begin

This feature is Preview with allowlist.

If you want to use the Grounded Generation API, contact your Google account team and ask to be added to the allowlist.
