You typically need to provide your billing account\nID when you are communicating with\n[Cloud Billing Support](/support/billing)\nor when you are\n[automating billing tasks using an API](/billing/docs/develop)\nor\n[programmatic cost management](/billing/docs/how-to/budgets-programmatic-notifications).\n\nThe billing account ID is an 18-character alphanumeric value. For example:\n`010101-F0FFF0-10XX01`\n\nAbout Cloud Billing accounts\n----------------------------\n\nCloud Billing accounts pay for usage costs in Google Cloud projects and\nGoogle Maps Platform projects. To use Google Cloud resources in a project,\nbilling must be enabled on the project. Billing is enabled when the project is\nlinked to an active Cloud Billing account.\n\nHow to locate a billing account ID\n----------------------------------\n\nA Cloud Billing account has a user-assigned name and a\nsystem-generated billing account ID. The billing account ID is displayed on\nmultiple pages in the **Billing** section of the Google Cloud console.\nIf you have limited permissions to view billing information, you might not be\nable to view all the different pages in the Billing section.\n\nThe method you use to find the billing account ID depends on your\n[Cloud Billing access permissions](/billing/docs/how-to/billing-access):\n\n- Users with [basic Cloud Billing account permissions](#basic-billing-permissions)\n- Users with [project-level permissions only](#project-permissions-only) (no billing account permissions)\n\n### If you have basic Billing Account permissions\n\nIf you are granted the\n[`billing.accounts.get`](/billing/docs/how-to/custom-roles#account_management)\npermission on a Cloud Billing account, you can access the **Billing**\nsection in the Google Cloud console to view the billing account ID. Most\n[predefined billing account roles](/billing/docs/how-to/billing-access#overview-of-cloud-billing-roles-in-cloud-iam)\n(such as Billing Account User, Billing Account Viewer, or Billing Account\nAdministrator) include the `billing.accounts.get` permission.\n\nWith basic billing account permissions, you have two methods to locate a\nbilling account ID.\n\n#### Method 1: Open the **Account Management** page for a *selected* billing account\n\nThis method works well when you want to find the billing account ID of a\nsingle, *active* billing account that you know by name. If the billing account\nis closed or you are unsure of its name, use\n[method 2](#method-2).\n\n1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the **Account management** page for the\n Cloud Billing account.\n\n [Go to Account management in the Cloud Billing console](https://console.cloud.google.com/billing/manage)\n2. At the prompt, **choose the Cloud Billing account** that you\n want to view.\n\n The **Account management** page opens for the selected\n Cloud Billing account.\n3. On the **Account management** page, the alphanumeric **Billing account ID**\n is displayed near the top of the page.\n\n*** ** * ** ***\n\n#### Method 2: View a list of all billing accounts you have permissions to access\n\nThis method is best when you have many billing accounts (active and closed)\nand you want to view them all, including their billing account IDs, in a\ndashboard.\n\n1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the **My Billing Accounts** page in the\n **Billing** section.\n\n [Go to My Billing Accounts in Cloud Billing console](https://console.cloud.google.com/billing)\n2. If you have billing accounts for more than one organization, and you want\n to view accounts across all of your organizations, expand the **organization selector**\n and choose **None Selected**.\n\n3. By default, your list of billing accounts is filtered to show only\n *Active* accounts.\n\n - To view a complete list of your billing accounts, active and closed, **remove** the *Status : **Active*** filter.\n - To view a list of accounts filtered by *Closed* accounts, **remove** the *Status : **Active*** filter and **add** a *Status : **Closed*** filter.\n4. In the list of your billing accounts, you can see the *Billing account name* ,\n *Billing account ID* , and other information about the billing account,\n such as *Status* , *Account type* , and *Organization*.\n\n | **Tip** : To view values in the *Last 30 days'\n | spend* column, you need the `billing.accounts.getSpendingInformation` permission on the Cloud Billing account. This permission isn't granted by the Billing Account User role. Most other [predefined billing roles](/billing/docs/how-to/billing-access#overview-of-cloud-billing-roles-in-cloud-iam) include this permission (such as Billing Account Viewer, Billing Account Costs Manager, or Billing Account Administrator).\n\n You can download the list of accounts to a comma-separated values (CSV)\n file using the get_app\n **Download CSV** selector located above the table.\n\n### If you have Project-only permissions (no billing account permissions)\n\nIf you are a project owner, editor, viewer, or project billing manager, but\notherwise don't have any\n[*billing account* permissions](/billing/docs/how-to/billing-access),\nyou can locate the ID of the billing account that is linked to the\nprojects that you can access.\n\nTo view a list of *all projects you can access* and their associated\nCloud Billing account, complete the following steps:\n\n1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the **My Projects** page in the\n **Billing** section.\n\n [Go to My Projects in Cloud Billing console](https://console.cloud.google.com/billing/projects)\n2. From the list of your projects, you can see the Billing account name and\n **Billing account ID**.\n\nTry it for yourself\n-------------------\n\n\nIf you're new to Google Cloud, create an account to evaluate how our\nproducts perform in real-world scenarios.
