For example, the\n`us-central1` region denotes a region near the geographic center of\nthe United States. When you create a TPU VM, you specify the zone in which you\nwant to create it. For more information about regional and zonal resources, see\nCompute Engine [Global, regional, and zonal\nresources](/compute/docs/regions-zones/global-regional-zonal-resources). You can\ncreate TPU VMs in the zones shown in the following table.\n| **Note** : If you request TPUs using Flex-start or if you request a short-term TPU reservation in calendar mode, you must use a zone that supports the feature you want to use. For a list of supported zones, see the following pages:\n|\n| - [Request Cloud TPUs using Flex-start](/tpu/docs/request-using-flex-start#limitations)\n- [Request a short-term reservation using calendar mode](/tpu/docs/calendar-mode-reservation#limitations) \n\n### US\n\n### Europe\n\n### Asia Pacific\n\n### South America\n\nTPU types with higher numbers of chips or cores are available only in limited\nquantities. TPU types with lower chip or core counts are more likely to be\navailable.\n\nWhat's next\n-----------\n\n- To see pricing for TPUs in each region, see [Cloud TPU\n pricing](/tpu/pricing).\n- To learn how to work with TPUs, see [Get started](/tpu/docs/quick-starts).\n- To learn about TPU architecture, see [TPU\n Architecture](/tpu/docs/system-architecture-tpu-vm).\n- To learn about the types of models that are well-suited to Cloud TPU, see [When to use TPUs](/tpu/docs/tpus#when_to_use_tpus)."]]
