Discovery generates [data\nprofiles](/sensitive-data-protection/docs/data-profiles) that provide insights like the\ninformation types ([*infoTypes*](/sensitive-data-protection/docs/infotypes-reference))\ndetected and the sensitivity level of your training data.\n\nBenefits\n--------\n\nThis feature offers the following benefits:\n\n- You can monitor your Vertex AI datasets---at the organization, folder, or project level---for sensitive data, and [report\n on the results](/sensitive-data-protection/docs/analyze-data-profiles).\n- You can send discovery results to Security Command Center so that your workloads with potentially sensitive data are taken into account when you evaluate your organization's security posture.\n- If discovery detects sensitive training data, you can use the data profiles to identify which resources need to be further investigated. You can perform a deep inspection and find all sensitive instances in a resource.\n\nSupported data source\n---------------------\n\nThis feature can profile the following types of training data referenced in your\nVertex AI datasets:\n\n- Training data in Cloud Storage buckets. For information about the supported file types, see [File\n clusters](/sensitive-data-protection/docs/supported-file-types#file_clusters).\n- Training data in BigQuery tables.\n\nHow it works\n------------\n\nWhen you profile a Vertex AI dataset,\nSensitive Data Protection generates a *file store data profile* or *table\ndata profile*, depending on where the training data is stored: a\nCloud Storage bucket or a BigQuery table. A data profile\nprovides insights and metadata about the training data associated with your\ndataset.
